Dave Abbott was born in England and came to South Africa nearly 50 years ago and began ABBOTT & CRABB - A notorious comedy duo that toured the country and still play to this day, being featured on stages across the country.
An accomplished solo entertainer, comedian, musician, songwriter and jingle writer, Dave Abbott has tricks for every entertainment and music need. With 44 years in the business he has knack for combining funny stories and songs with an extremely accomplished instrumental and vocal ability - he plays guitar, keyboards, fiddle, and harmonica plus a DJ set-up which he carries around for the serious dancing crowd.
His musical style runs from 60’s to 2023’s but the best description would be “Let’s Have a Good Time” music. His huge experience means you are guaranteed a party whatever your age group or mix of people and you needn’t be afraid of him offending anyone either….it’s just not his style. He carries ALL his own sound and lighting equipment around the Gauteng area so you never have to worry about extra costs.

AND HERE IS SOME BLURB FROM ME ABOUT PERFORMING
I put this next bit in because,,,,,,,I must!!
So you're maybe wondering
1) Why you're reading this note?
2) Why did I put it here in the first place?
To answer the first question, I'm not sure, but thank you:-)
The answer to the second question is considerably more complicated. Quite a while back I was performing in Boksburg (yes I go there too) and a lady gesticulated at me to come over while I was playing and shouted in my ear that I was miming, not doing ANYTHING. Whereupon I took the mike off and sang straight into her ear then played something different on the guitar. In her defense she immediately smiled and after the song apologized and gave me the thumbs up. So the reason that I wrote/posted/gave you, this is to tell you that:
1) Yes I use backtracks
2) Everything you see me sing and play I really am actually doing, I'm NOT miming:-))))
3) Everything you hear on the backtracks is me, I made them in my studio (DaStudio, we'll get to that), and played all the instruments you hear, apart from the drums which are programmed ( a subject waaaayy too vast to get into here, if you wanna know, ask me}. This by the way includes ALL the harmony vocals you hear, they are all me.
So other reasons why I'm telling you this? Well, some of it is to advertise my studio, and the fact that I do make backtracks and record projects for clients, do podcasts and voiceovers, record band demos, anything that can be recorded in fact!!
A couple of other things people wonder about, how I can wander about like I do. Simple, all my gear is radio enabled, all the instruments have transmitters and receivers. Another thing is ABBOTT & CRABB, yes we are STILL going after over 40 years. Henry (Crabb)and I do gigs when we can, we're all a lot older now and have different lives to when we first got on a stage in 1978, also we both do solo work as we need to make a living, but we are very much still together, and I very much miss performing with the old bugger:-)
